Forest Fairytale Elopement

Writer's picture: Hannah BloodworthHannah Bloodworth

On June 13th, 2022, I married my best friend and the best man I know. We were engaged on November 14th, 2021 (the day before my birthday!) and seeing how everything came together on the most special day seven months later was truly magical.

We were married during a small and intimate ceremony in the middle of the forest in Olympic National Park. The words I'd use to describe our day are: dreamy, fairytale, delicate, and idyllic. Our original plans for the day didn't pan out and it ended up even better than expected. A lakeside ceremony turned into a lovely ceremony in what I can only describe as a place where the fairies must live! With lush green trees towering over us and tiny blue wildflowers scattered about, I felt like we were in a dream.

Corey and I had our 'first look' at Lake Crescent, just a short walk from where we were to be wed. It was a wonderfully magical and intimate moment. To see my soon-to-be husband waiting for me at the shore was surreal...

I'll never forget walking hand-in-hand to our ceremony location, whispering together amongst the vast greenery and gentleness of the forest. Corey said to me, 'This is the best wedding ever,' and I could not have agreed more!

We made the conscious choice to write our own vows to one another and it was the best decision. I will forever cherish the moments we read them to each other - both of us crying more than expected! Haha I am also so thankful we handwrote our vows and can look back on them for years to come.

After our ceremony we took our time strolling to the place where we had our mini celebration with family and friends. The entire set up was done by my family, with my mother heading it all. She put everything together and it was gorgeous. Our cake, by a local baker, was to die for. A combination of honey, thyme, strawberry, and brown sugar really proved to be a hit (and if Corey and I were a cake, this would be it!)

We really couldn't be happier with how things turned out for us on this most special day. I am so grateful God brought us to one another, in the middle of a global pandemic, through the most unlikely of circumstances. I know our lives together will be so incredibly special...
